Welcome to your yogic journey!
If you are a new student to yoga, new to the Iyengar method, or would like to reacquaint your self to the basic postures, we recommend you register for the Introduction to Yoga course. In the event that there is not an Intro. class offered, new students may also begin in the Gentle Yoga, or Yoga 1 classes.
New student form:
We will ask you to fill in a New student Form when you arrive to the studio. If you'd like to save a few minutes, you can print the new student form here and bring it to your first class.
What to know before you arrive:
Most importantly, bring an open mind.
Please be on time, arriving late and/or leaving early is discouraged. Remove your shoes, and enter the yoga room quietly.
Practice on an empty stomach. Allow at least two hours after eating before practicing yoga.
We recommend that you refrain from sipping water during class in order to maintain the internal heat you are creating.
What to wear: For your comfort wear nonrestrictive clothing. Please avoid baggy pants, as they obscure alignment.
On personal hygiene: Although we provide mats in class it's a good idea to purchase your own. Having your own mat serves you energetically and hygienically. Please refrain from wearing perfume and heavy jewelry.
Medical Conditions: Please inform the center and your teacher BEFORE starting classes if you have any physical or medical condition, i.e. Conditions associated with heart disease, cancer, diabetes, detached retina, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, issues of the neck, back and knees, recent post-operative conditions, new students who are pregnant. If you have any of these conditions, it does not mean that you cannot come to classes, but you may need to be placed in a specific class where your medical condition can be accommodated.
